(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■ • ' CHBISTCHURCH, Wednesday. At the Aldington market there were heavy entries,; that of fat sheep being the largest for a single week's sale tpc some years. The market throughout was firm for all classes of tat stock.
Store Sheep.—The heaviest yarding for some weeks. Including Central Otago and West Coast drafts. Good quality sheep sold freely, though old ewes were cheaper. Forward lambs and wethers sold particularly well. Good four ~ and flve-year-old crossbred ewes made 35/; small two-toothed half bred ewes, 33/6; sound and faillngmouthed half bred ewes, 25/ to 28/0; soundmouthed threequarter-bred ewes, ■ 33/ to 34/6; aged half bred ewes, 19/ to 24/; aged crossbred ewes, 11/ to 22/; aged empty ewes, 15/ to 21/; forward lambe, 25/; ordinary lambs, 21/ to 22/0; good half bred wether lambs, 25/3: halfbred ewe lambs, 26/3 to 28/; cull halfbred ewe lambs, 23/10; small wether lambs, 17/ to 18/; forward four and six-toothed wethers, 31/ to 33/8; ordinary, 27/ to 30/; low-con-ditioned two, four and six-toothed wethers, 24/ to 25/; four and slx-toothcd crossbred wethers, 29/11; four and six-toothed threequarter-bred wethers, 29/ to 31/.
Fat Lambs. —A yarding of 3000, compared with 3180 last week. There was a keen sale, best lambg making lid per lb, others 101 dto IOJd. Extra prime lambs, 38/ to 40/3; prime, 33/ to 3«/0; medium, 30/ to 32/6; light, 24/6 to 29/.
Fat Sheep.—An exceptionally heavy yarding and of better quality than lest weete A sood sale throughout at up to last week's prices. Exporters operated freely. Extra prime wethers, 49/; a few special to 06/6; prime, 38/0 to 44/; medium 34/ to 38/; light, 30/ to 33/6; extra prime ewes, 36/6; a special line, 37/6 to 40/; prime, 31/6 to 34/; medium, 28/; light, 23/ to 27/0; old, 10/ to 22/6. Fat Cattle. —A yarding of 480 head, compared with (!70 last week. A bright sale for good beef with rough beef very hard to quit at cow prices. Best beef, 31/6 to 34/' per 1.001b; medium, 27/ to 31/; unfinished. 22/e to i/.6/e; and rough, down to 12/0. Extra prime steers, £15 to £16 117/0; prime, £12 to £14 15/; medium, £O tv £11 to/; light, £3 to £8 5/; extra prime heifers, £10 2/6; prime, £0 10/ to £8 15/; ordinary. £4 to £6 15/: extra prime cows, £10 5/; prime, £6 to £8 0/; ordinary, £3 5/ to £5 15/. Vealers. —A large yarding and easier prices. Runners made to £4 5/; good venlers, to £3 10/: good calves, £1 15/ to £2 17/1; small calves, up to 20/. . ■
Store Cattle. —A medium entry of mixed class. One to two-year steers, £!J to ££ 10/ ; cows, £0/ to iO/: bulls, £3 10/.
Dairy Cows. —Cows and heifers, close to calving, were In keen demand. Second and third calvers, £8 to £12 10/; springing heifers at drop, £7 to £0 10/; backward spritzers and cows in milk, £1 10/ to £4. Fat Pigs.—Baconers were firmer and porkers easier. Average price, baconers 6Jd to 7}d per lb, porkers Cα to 7sd.
Store Pigs.—Weaners. 0/ to 13/; small stores, 15/ to 18/1; medium, 2G/ to 33/; large, 38/ to 44/.
