■ » Mr. W. H. Staples, of Wellington, is a visitor at the Central Hotel. Mr. H_ Rothery, Mayor of Te Kuiti, left Auckland for his home town yesterday. Mr. E. C. Turner arrived back in Auckland to-day after a trip to the Islands. Mr. A. H. Wright, Commissioner of Police, returned to Wellington by the midday express yesterday. Mr. S. Kronfeld, *of Auckland, returned to-day by the Tofua after a business trip to the Islands. Mr. Graham Henderson, formerly of Balclutha, has received the appointment of principal of the Wellington Wireless College. Captain E. F. Allan, managing director of the Samoan Shipping and Trading Company, is in Auckland, en route to 1 Sydney.. Messrs. M. E. Jenkins (Svdncv), B. n. J. Pettit and A. T. Deck "(Apia) are among the recent arrivals at the Star I Hotel. Messrs. H. B. Foley and L. V. Lawton arrived in Auckland from Wellington this morning. They are staying at the Central Hotel. . The _Primate, Archbishop Julius, is visiting Wellington to meet the Rev. D. R. Ritson, of London, World Secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, .who arrived at Wellington to-day on a tour of New Zealand in the interests of the work of the society. Mr. James Thompson, formerly a member of the Wellington College teaching staff, hasc completed his licensee's lettres at the University of Poitieres in France. Mr. Thompson, who was for some years lecturer in French at Victoria University, is the holder of the French Travelling Scholarship ofl New Zealand. , *, M m „ . *
