TOWN HALL CONCERT. Saturday evening's municipal concert was largely attended, ana the attractive, sinking; and playing of the different items or the interesting' programme gave much pleasure, Q'fflSSJ y ***?. wa £ xh & executants were acclaimed. Mr. Barnett opened with a f" I ™' performance or Alfred Hollins' Grand thoeur' ror the organ,- and later was heard in movements two and live of Wldor's "Symphony No. 5." The rormer section was notable Tor tasteful soloing and double effects made by the same hand on two manuals, with an independent accompaniment on the third clavier and pedal wliil3t the Toccata, with Its brilliant staccato, - massive-, chords', and octave pedal -received 'a masterly rendering. Other items played by the organist were by Herold, Gossec, k'rVisler, and Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus.' Madame Irene Ainiley'a solos gfeatly pleased, and won Tor the contralto Hearty manifestations gf pleasure at tbeir termination. She opened with Frederick's rondo gavotte "The Voice dans son boudoir," rrom.Ambroise Thomas' opera "Mignon." The Allegro was dramatically rendered, and the Allegretto, consisting ■or a fascinating. melody,, dainty staccato inter- ' vals. and embellishments, was "executed with vocal ease, charm of voice, and grace or phrasing. Tenderness and admirable style were displayed In the singing or "The Old-rashloned Home," and a memorable delivery was given or Liddle's "Abide With Me." Tbe Lyric Quartet (Messrs. Ripley, Richards, McEiwaiii, and Ryan) received warm recalls arter the effective.and nicely blended performances or "Believe Me"_and "What the Chimney Says," and were heard in additional numbers.
