STREET LOAFERS.
(To the Editor.* I do not wonder that "Ciris"^ asks, "Where aro the police?" when' speaking of the state of things prevailing in Victoria Street West and Lower Hobson Street. Anyone who passes through either of these streets at any
time between 3 p.m. and 6 p.™. cannot fail to see the number of lialf-drunken men, and, I am sorry to say, women, who are on view. What makes matters worse is that a large city school is situated within a stone's throw of both these streets, and it is in the highest degree undesirable that children coming from school should become accustomed to such sights. There is far too much drinking by women in both streets. It is up to the police authorities to make a clean-up.—l am, etc., OBSERVER.
