Arne Borg, the swimmer, is on his way to New Zealand. Mr Robert Allan, of Christchurch, left for the South by last night's express. The Right Rev. Dr. Kempthornc, Bishop of Polynesia, left by the Maheno this morning'for .Sydney. Colonel A. S. Menzies, who has been on a visit to the Dominion left on his return to Australia by the Maheno this morning. Included among those who are at the Grand Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Hugo, of Masterton, and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Roles, of Sydney. Major-General Sir Edward Chaytor, K.C.M.G., with Lady Chaytor and the Misses Chaytor (2), will leave for England by the lonic on April 19. Mr. J. B. Brinsden, of Wellington, and Mr. J. R. Foster, of Wanganui, who arrived by this morning's Main Trunk express, are at the Grand Hotel. Messrs. S. R. Crowley of Christchurch, S. E. Sibley, of Sydney, A. Shorter, of Sydney, and J. B. Bailey, of Staffordshire, England, are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Charles Wilson, Parliamentary librarian, who has been seriously indisposed lately, is at Rotorua. His health is reported* to have improved considerably bat he is not expected to resume his" duties for a few weeks. A London Press Association message says that Trinity College of Music has appointed Mr. Albert Mallinson examiner for the North Island of New Zealand, and Doctor John Warriner examiner for the South Island. Dr. Hamilton Marshall, of Melbourne, Dr. Gordon Shaw, of Melbourne, Dr. Warrall and Dr. H. Flecker, of Melbourne, and Messrs. Norman and John Moffatt, of Queensland returned to Australia by the Maheno which left for Sydney this morning. Mr. P. H. Upton general manager of the South British Insurance Company's Auckland oflice. accompanied by Mrs. Upton, left by the Maheno for Sydney to-day. en route to England. Mr. and Mrs. Upton expect to be away for at least six months Dr. Short, a member of the Wailii Borough Council, who leaves for England next week, was granted nine months' leave of absence by the council last night, and at a subsequent function was presented with a travelling rug as a token of the esteem in which he is held by the members of the council. Messrs. J. Woodall (president), J. W. Ryan (past president). Major E. G. Eraser (vice president) and J. A. Cahill (secretary), of the Auckland Commercial Travellers" Association, returned by this morning's express from Wellington where they have been attending the annual conference of United Commercial Travellers.
