TOUCHY MEN SMOKERS.
CARRIAGES TO THEMSELVES. NON-SMOKER WOMEN BANNED. (Received 0 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The growing habit of women invading the smoking compartments of railway carriages, to the crowding out of many smokers, is the subject of much adverse comment. The demand is that the authorities preserve the carriages for smokers only. The Victorian Railway Commissioner decided to accede, and officials are instructed to request women to travel in the other compartments. No ban is placed on a woman provided she smokes. (A. and N.Z. Cable.) The palpable incineration of tobacco by a. female ill a smoking carriage will, therefore, licfmse her to remain. • : j
