THE WINTER SHOW.
JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Joint Committee of the Auckland Winter Show was held this afternoon, Mr. E. D. McLennan presiding. Show Dates.—A letter was read from the Manawatu-West Coast A. and P. Association, wherein it was pointed out that for years the Manawatu Association had held their show in June, and that the date a for the Auckland Winter Show would clash. It was requested that the Auckland dates should be reconsidered. The secretary stated that he had replied pointing out that the dates selected are the only ones upon which the Harbour Board's sheds were available. It was also pointed out that the National Dairy Association's Conference opened in Auckland on June 10, and the Hamilton Winter Show covered from May 27 to June 7. There was no intention' to be unfriendly, but it was necessary to hold the show when the Harbour Hoard would give the use of the. sheds. The secretary's action was endorsed. Entertaining Visitors. The Dairy Produce Committee's report recommended that the Scots Hall be secured for June 24 and 25, and that delegates be entertained at a smoke concert on the latter date; that city and harbour trips bo provided, and that hotel accommodation be arranged for visitors. The cost of entertaining was estimated at £200. There was considerable discussion touching the cost of providing a smoke concert, but it was decided to approve of the Dairy Committee's report. Space and Exhibits.—The Agricultural Committee's report, which was adopted, recommended that free space be granted for exhibits of seed, grain, and fruit, that the Mines Department be asked to set up an exhibit of minerals, and that the Woolbrokers' Association be asked to set up an exhibit of wool.
