THE OLYMPIC GAMES.
AN ASSURANCE WANTED. OF PUEDY'S INCLUSION. Although matters are said to lie Well in train for the sending of a team ot Dominion athletes to the Olympic Games at Paris it would appear that it is not easy to get information from the Olympic Council at Wellington. The Northern Boxing Association IS particularly anxious that the local boxer, C. Purdy, should make the trip and is prepared to find something like £400 towards paving his expenses, but there is no guarantee that Purdy would be sent. Information has been received by the N B A. from Australia that no objection would be taken to Purdy linking up with the Australian team, and the Northern Boxing Association is anxious to get something definite from the Wellington body which will guarantee Purdy's inclusion in the team. The Olympic Council only can nominate athletes for the Games and there is no assurance that if money is forwarded that Purdy will be sent. The Tx.B.A. intends to hold a boxing carnival in three weeks' time to raise funds to pay Purdv's expenses, but does not feel inclined to make definite arrangements until an assurance is received regarding the sending o£ the Aucklander to Paris. _______
