— • EFFECT OF THE STORM. The electrical disturbances during the storm on Tuesday were responsible for considerable interruption to the telegraphic and telephone communication with the East Coast district. Heavy damage to lines in all parts of the Island south of Auckland occurrerl on Tuesday, but in most cases round about, communication was kept up until the direct lines were repaired. Taumarumii appeared to be at the northern end of the storm area: but Wellington was in touch with Auckland throughout the disturbances.
