FOOD PRICES.
SUGAR DEARER. BUTTER CHEAPER. An advance of 20/ per ton on all grades of raw and refined sugar was notified to take effect as from to-day by the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. The retail advance will be considered at a meeting of the Auckland Grocers' Association called for this afternoon. Tho advance will probably be to 23/9 for - 701b bag retail. 12/ C for 351b, 4/8 for 121b parcel. Old for 21b, and a single lb will perhaps rule at sd. The retail price of butter dropped ono penny per lb since last report. To-day's quotations for factory make are as follows: 1/10 per lb for superfine, 1/9 per lb for first grade, and 1/S per lb for second grade. Farmers' separator is quoted to 1/4 per lb. Fresh eggs are very scarce in Auckland at the present time, and prices retail range to-day from 2/6 to 2/8 per dozen. Chilled eggs 2/2 to 2/4 per dozen. Cheese is unchanged in price at 1/3 (o 1/0 per lb retail, according to the maturity. Whole hams are quoted retail at 1/1 to 1/3 per lb. according to cure, and 1/3 to 1/9 for rashers. Kacon in cuts rules from lOd to 1/5 per lb, and rashers 1/4 to 1/6 per lb.
