UNION SECRETARY ARRESTED

THEFT OF FUNDS ALLE7.ED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. R. D. Martin, secretary of the Bakers and Pastry Cooks' Union, was arrested to-day on a charge of the theft of moneys belonging to the union. Martin was at one time a member of the City Council, beating Mr. C. H. Agar at the by-election, but was not reelected last election. He also stood unsuccessfully for Kaiapoi at last election.
