Basing thoir action on the Treaty of Lausanne, the Turkish authorities notified foreign shipping companies that all loading ojwations, Customs formalities, and pilotage must Ik , performed by Moslem Turks. No Europeans will be allowed aboard thr; steamers in port in connection with these services. Foreign shipping agents are discussing the situation in regard to pilotage, which aiTeeis the safety of ships in Turkish waters. The supply of Turkish pilots is inadequate, and their quality leaves much to be desired.— (A. and N.Z- Cable.)
