WOMEN'S EMANCIPATION. CONSTANTINOPLE, January 2. A further step in the emancipation of Turkish women has been taken under a new law, which allows them to sit next to.men in tram cars, steamers, and other public conveyances. Hitherto there have been special compartments for women screened off by black curtains. A commission of the National Assembly is considering new family laws.
