THE RAINFALL.

. HAMILTON RECORDS. The rainfall in December for Hamilton is reported by Dr. H. Douglas to have totalled 2.85 in. Rain fell on 11 days, the maximum fall being 1.69 in on December 20. The total fall for the year was 50.66 in. The average rainfall for the past 24 years was 49.75 in. During that period the highest rainfall was Co.Olin in 1904, and the lowest was 28.78 in in 1914. CANTERBURY FIGURES. The meteorological observations made during the past year at the Christchurch Magnetic Observatory that the total rainfall for the year was very good, 31.31 in being recorded, as against only 20.81 in for 1922. This total has only been exceeded in two of the past 22 years, namely, in 1004 (33.35 in), and -in 1909 (35.28 in.).
