"THE LIGHT FANTASTIC."

LORD MVERHULME S HOBBY. JAZZ OX NEW YEAR'S EVE. It is not often that a peer of therealm is seen at a- Wellington cabaret disporting himself and entering into the fun and - jpllitrv of the evening. This proved to be the- case on New Tear's Eve, however, and his lordship in question was Viscount Leverhulmc, tbe soap magnate, at present on a short visit to Xew Zealand. Interest was aroused in a diminutive figure clad in knee breeches and eilic stockings, and a conventional court attire, "who appeared to wend his way through the crowd with no apparent difficulty. The attendance at the Ambassador's on Xew Year's Eve -was exceedingly large, and dancing was by no means easy for much younger men, -who found it more than a little difficult to guide their partners with.. anything approaching dexterity. Lord Leverhulmc was not observed to sit out any dances, however, and until he departed some time after- midnight was constantly on the floor, and, despite the handicap of the allotted span as far as Tears go, appeared to thorougiily enjoy himself. The visitor has attended the cabaret on several occasions since he arrived in Wellington. Dancing is one of his hobbies, and he indulges in it -whenever possible. For his fondness for tripping the-light fantastic, says the "Xew Zealand Times," Lord Leverhulme might well be dubbed "the jazzing peer."
