THE CONCLUDING DAY. TUKIA WINS B.OYAL STAKES. KOSEDAY THE PLATE. Tlie Auckland Eacing Club's Summer Meeting was concluded yesterday in beautiful weather. The course was in excellent order, and there was a large attendance. The . sum of £89,507 was handled at the totalisator, an increase of £4227 10/, compared with the corresponding day last year. The total ior Iho meeting was" £407,700 10/, an increase of £20,840. The Judicial Committee suspended B. ltosen for three months for interference with two other horses in tlie Goodwood Handicap. An inquiry was held into the running of Pilliewinkie in the Grand-. stand Handicap, as compared with his ; performance in the Summer Cup. His connections explained that the horse was no good in wet going, and this was accepted. The explanation of W. Bagby regarding the swerving of Royal Diaileni at the finish of the Midsummer Handicap was accepted. The ilags were flown at half mast, out of respect to the late M. D. Wild Hind, owned by Sir George Clifford, was the popular pick, carrying- about £200 more than Broadwood, with Prettyman, Tactful, Gold Bud, Eoyal Box and Archie next in request. Tactful was the early pilot, but was closely attended by Tinopoiio, Alfort. Xarro'w Keck, Gold Bud and- Prettyniau. Crossing- the top Broadwood had run to the front, and led into the straight from Alfort, lioyal Box. Wild Hind and Prettyman. The last named came through at the distance and a groat race saw him beat Alfort by half a length, with Royal Box and Wild Hind, who dead heated for third place, a head away. All carded for the Sylvia Handicap ■went to the post, Lady Ttewa carrying about £90 more than Quinette, while Shining Armour was also supported to the extent of £2000. Tanadces and o' Mine were next sought after. Hohora was the first to become prominent, witli Quinette and Son 0 ' Mine next, followed by Tanadees, Lady Rewa and Shining Armour. Across the top Quinette and Son o , Mine were together attended by Hohora, Tanadees, Shining Armour and Lady Rewa. Quinette and Son o . Mine were first into the straight and in the run home Quinette won bY a length and a-half from Tanadees, -which beat Shining Armour by a neck. Son o Mine was fourth, and then came Lady Pvewa and Hohora. Favourite Wins. Tactful was the only withdrawal from the Grandstand Handicap, PiUiew,nk,e being first choice with Euapapa, Loyar Insh, Gold Light and Surveyor fanc.ed m that order. Loyal Irish wa ß showing the way as'they passed the stand to Tmohoro, Ruapapa, Svcorav, SurveTWr-iib Gold Light. Along'lK back Riiapapa ran to the front" followed -by: Loyal Irish, Sycorax, Tinohoro, Royal Abbey, Gold Light, Illumination and'-Surveyor. Ruapapa wa ß first into the straight, with Pellicwinkie, Gold Light, Loyal Irish and Surveyor next. Pilliewinkie put in his run'at the distance and won by Half a length from Ruapapa, who beat Surveyor by a neck. Then followed Gold Light, Te Kara, Loyal Irish, Boomerday, Winning Hit, Demand, Illumination "and Tinokalui. The Royal Stakes. The scratching pen was used freely in the Royal Stakes. Parody, Queen March, Killocra and Moeley, who is said to have a bruised heel, failing to keep their engagements. This left a field of four, Tukia being well supported, with Inferno, Xigger Minstrel and Prince Lupin backed as stated. The race needs little description, if or Tukia was in front after the field had got into its stride and led into the straight, where Xigger Minstrel joined issue. Tukia, however, held her own and won by a neck, with Inferno two and a half lengths away. King Abbey was the first to show .out, but going past the stand Maud Wilson was in charge from Penona, Starland and King Abbey. Starland went to the front along the back,- with; Maud Wilson, Penona, King Abbey, , Whanako, Sea Ke'il and Pine Arch next. Whanako and Starland were first into the straight from Maud Wilson. Pine Arch and Miss Melva. Whanako then went to the front and won by three-quarters of a length from Miss Melva, who came fast in the straight and beat Pine Arch by a neck, i Sea De'il was fourth, and then came Luperino, -Starland and Battle Song. The Sprinters. Lady Ridicule was the ohly one that failed* to keep an engagement in the County, Handicap. Mnrihaupo was favourite, with Royal Blood, Pavo -and Finelli next sought after. Royal Blood was the first to become prominent, with Broadwqpd, Shcflicld, Heisler, Landslide, Finelli and Prince Abbey next. Coming into the straight Prince Abbey, Sheffield, and Landslide were together, but in the mn home Prince Abbey and Sheffield drew out and a great" race resulted in the judge being unable to separate them. Landslide was a head away, third, and then came Murihaupo, Hipo, Royal Blood, Broadwood and Golden Bubble. The Auckland Plate. Roseday was installed favourite for tho Auckland Plate, with Highland, Tarleton, Many Kittle and Enthusiasm selected as named. Only five went to tho post, Surveyor and Ballymena being scratched. Enthusiasm was the ffret to show out, with Tarleton and Many Kittle next. Passing the stand Many Kittle was in front, about half a length ahead of Enthusiasm. Roseday and Tarleton, with Highland in the rear. Along the back the order was unchanged. Many Kittle was first into the straight from Enthusiasm. Roseday. Highland and Tarleton.
