NEW YEAR ACCIDENTS.

SEVERAL MINOR CASES.

ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL.

Several minor accident cases occurred yesterday, three being admitted to the city hospital.

Frederick Thomas, residing at Upper Queen Street, Onebunga, who was acting as conductor on his brother's motor bus, was thrown to tbe ground as the vehicle was going up Clonbern Road, returning from the Ellerslie races. He sustained severe head injuries, but this morning he was reported to be improving. Only minor injuries were sustained by a ten-year-old boy, George Mischewsici, who fell through a skylight near his home in Wellington Street. Fortunately for him, he fell on a motor car standing underneath, which broke the fall somewhat.

A girl, three years of age, named Olive Burton, whose parents live at 16, Marsden Avenue, Dominion Road, was playing at Brown's Bay, when she walked on some land over which a fire had swept the previous evening. Her feet were severely burned by hot embers lying hidden beneath a covering of ash.

Mr. C. S. Clark, a member of the crew of the yacht Thelma, was admitted to the AYhangaroa Hospital, suffering with a dislocated left leg. The accident occurred while he was on a holiday cruise in the North. He is making good progress towards recovery. A motor car containing Mr. .T. Russell (who was driving) and Miss Alys Savage, collided with another vehicle at Remuera Road early on New Year's morning. Both were tlirown forward as a result of the impact. Miss Savage receiving cuts from fragments of the broken wind-screen, while the driver was cut and bruised. The other occupants of tbe car escaped injury.
