Olaf j Olsen (07). who got drunk for the second [ time in six months, was fined 10/, in ; default 4S hours. Frank Betts (21) land Joseph Cowie Liannich (31), who j were "laughing, playing like hoodlums, j and hugging each other in Queen Street," I were each mulcted in the sum of 20/, with the option of seven days. .James i Smith (34), who "acted in much the same manner, except that he did not hug anybody," was also fined 20/, witli cab hire 2/6, in default three days on the .hill. VOICE THAT CALLED HIM BACK. A plea of not guilty was entered by William Hogg (52), when charged with being a rogue and vagabond, in that he bad no visible lawful means of support. Hogg was arrested at Mercer on ChristI mas Eve, when he was in a very shaky ! condition following on over indulgence in alcohol. A report from the local ccnl stable was produced by Senior-Sergeant Ttawle, and this showed that Hogg had been hanging about Mercer, drinking and cadging. When told to disappear he made j a remark to the effect that he had tried |to*go several times, but a voice always called him back. He was remanded til! Friday, when the constable from Mercer iwill be in attendance. FAILED TO SUPPORT HIS WIFE. "I'm not guilty, because she ran away ■ and deserted mc," was what John Kerr : (51)) said when charged with being in arrears to the extent of £2.32 with a maintenance order for 30/ per week in ' respect of his wife. Senior-Sergeant Itawle stated that tbe warrant for the arrest of Kerr was over two years old. Only lately he had turned up, and had iiung about his wife's lodgings, much to I her annoyance. Mr. Dickson %vas appear- i i ing for the wife, said Senior-Sergeant ! Rawie, and if the asee were adjourned till January 10 he would be in attendI ance. A remand was granted tiil that j date, bail being fixed at £200. ( ===== i
