TURNED DOWN.
FOUR TAURANGA LOANS. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star. , ") TAURANGA, this day. The ambitious schemes of the Borough Council, as set forth in various loan proposals, received a knock-out blow yesterday, when the ratepayers were called upon to vote on them and did so in no uncertain way. The proposed loans were: Streets, £33,100 —for 119, against 298; baths, £4100—for 153, against 265; Town Hall improvement, £570 —for 122, against 294: public conveniences, £500 —for 201, against 214.
