PAPATOETOE BEAUTIFYING LEAGUE.
SUB-COMMITTEE ELECTED. A meeting of the general committee of the Papatoetoe Progressive and Beautifying League was held last evening, Mr. E. Vickery presiding; Four sub-commit-tees were elected, including a ladies' committee, and the following members were elected to the executive: —Messrs. E. Vickery (president), X. R. Smvtheman. H. C. Ernest, J. Hunter. A. Hall (officers), also the chairman of each committee. It was decided to hold a working bee on Saturday, September 15, to level and form footpaths on the station reserve; and a comprehensive scheme to aid in the progress and beautifying of the district was considered. The report j showed that since 1914 the population had more than doubled itself. Suggestions were made with a view to developing tlie natural advantages of the district and of undertaking propaganda work.
