SHOPS IN UPPER QUEEX STREET. Quite a number of shops are being erected in Upper Queen Street, as well as other buildings. Towards the lower end a handsome two-storey brick building is approaching completion, the architect being Mr. H. R. Robinson. It is a. hall for the H.x'.R. Lodge of the Theoeophical Society. At the upper end of the road a lot of building is in progress on the section of land formerly occupied by the residence of the late Mr. G. Yv. Binney. At the side nearest the Baptist Tabernacle a three-storey brick building, designed by Messrs. Savage and Moran, architects, is being erected by Mr. N. Cole, contractor. This ie an Academy of Music, and will have shops in front. Alongside, workmen are excavating the site for a two-storey block of five shops, the architects being Messrs. Savage and* Moran, and the contractors, Messrs. Craig Brothers. These are lieing erected for Messrs. Newcombe and Melvill. A little lower down the road another two-storey brick building has been completed, and is occupied by Messrs. Barton and McGill, and J. Daweon. A block of shops is also to be erected by Messrs Newcombe and Melrill on the land recently purchased on the opposite side of the road. At the rate building is going on in that road, it will not be long before there will be a succession of shops from the wharf to Karangahape Road.
