IRISH REPUBLICAN FUNDS.
ABT OTBBIEWS APPEAL DISMISSED BT BENCH. LONDON, July 31. The Criminal Court of Appeal diemissed Art O'Brien and Scan McGrath's appeal against their sentences.—(A. and NJZ. Cable.) At the trial of the Irish deportees, Art O'Brien (president of the Irish Self Determination League) gave evidence that he received a salary of £750 annually, together with £150 a month for expenses, while staying at a London hotel as representative of the Irish Republic. O'Brien stated that he spent £2600 in connection with the Habeas Corpus case. He denied the suggestion of the prosecution that the funds of the Irish Republic and his own persona] accounts, amounting to £33,000, were hopelessly mixed at the hank, but he admitted that they were closely intermingled."
