INFLUENZA OUTBREAK.
SEVENTY-EIGHT CASES IN JULY FIFTEEN DEATHS FOR MONTH.
Nine further cases of pneumonic influenza were reported to the district health officer this morning. Three of these are from the city, one from the suburbs, and five from country districts. Four deaths are also reported, three of the eases being in the city and one in the country.
The total of the notifications of pneumonic influenza, last month was 78, and of these cases 15 were attended with fatal results.' Twenty-nine cases were reported in the city, 31 .in the suburbs, and IS in country districts. There were also 43 notifications of pneumonia during July, 19 being in the city, 18 in the suburbs, and six in country districts. The number of cases of diphtheria reported was 64, 12 being in the city, 18 in the suburbs, and 34 in country dis ; tricts. Of 20 cases of tuberculosis, two were in the city, four in the suburbs and 14 in country districts. Other diseases notified were as follows:—Scarlet fever 21 (city 6, suburbs 7, country districts 8), erysipelas 6 (city 2, suburbs 1, country districts 3), enteric fever 3 (city 2, country districts 1 puerperal fever one from the country.
