During the past year the total value of buildings in which fires occurred in Taumarunui was £31,550, on which the insurance amounted to £20,400. The amount paid out by insurance companies for fire losses during the year was £15,9, of which £1190 was paid out for the loss occasioned by one fire. These figures were quoted by Superintendent Ross at the annual social of the Taumarunui Fire Brigade on Friday evening.
