WELLIXGTOX, Thursday. I The second reading of the St. John's College Trust Bill was moved by the- Hon. E. Mitchelson in the Legislative Council to-day. Mr. Jlitchelson said the college found it impossible to carry on unless it could utilise the revenue accumulated from the Grammar School and from the various <iusts. It was very desirable to allow the bill to pass. Colonel Smith raised the question as to whether there had been any local objection to the bill, and the Hon. Melntyre tbougiit it would be well to hint the legislation reviewed twenty year.-* hence. It foemed that if the bill v.i s passed ivpryth'ng would be handed over fur al l time to tlie General Synod of Xew Zealand. The Hon. E. Mitchelson: It is all church property now.
