LIQUOR REFERENDUM.

A POLL IN SWITZERLAND. REDUCTION FLAN DEFEATED. (Received 10 a.m.) GENEVA, June 4. A referendum to give the Government control of the liquor trade with a view to reducing the production was defeated by 357,000 votes to 259,000. The majority regarded the proposal as an undue interference with the liberty of the subject.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
