BOXER COLLAPSES.

C. WHITAKER IX HOSPITAL. Cyril TVhitaker, of Xew Plymouth, who met Tom Hceney in a heavyweight boxing contest of fifteen rounds at the Town Hall last night ) collapsed in his chair on sitting down after the referee had stopped the bout halfway through the final rdund ; Heeney being declared the winner. Whitaker had shown signs of distress during the contest, and his collapse was not unexpected. He was carried out of the ring and a doctor ordered his removal to the Hospital, where at a later hour last night an operation was performed. This afternoon he was reported to be still unconscious, and in a critical condition at the time of going to press.
