Wireless greetings have already been exchansert between the Auckland reception committee and Sir Alfred Piekford, the Overseas Commissioner of the Boy* Scout Association, who is aboard the Manuka, en route from Sydney, and the movement in Auckland and Xew Zealand generally is expected to receive ;'. marked impetus from the visit of this enthusiastic supporter from India. While .lie is in Auckland Sir Alfred will have a busy time, as a very full programme has been mapped out for him. His first engagement after the arrival of the Manuka is at half-past two tomorrow, when he will meet the committee of the Girl Guides, a movement which Mr*. Gnnson and several other ladies are encouraging, and at 3.30 there will be a public meeting in the City Council Chamber, Town Hall, all people interested in promoting the success or the movement being invited to be present. The leaders of the Boy Scout movement will give a welcome to Sir Alfred to-morrow night in -St. Sepulchre's Hall. On Wednesday night, at 8 o'clock, there will 'be a citizens' reception, with his Excellency the Governor-General (who is Dominion Chief Scout) in the chair. Addresses are. to be given by tbe Gov-ernor-General, Sir Alfred Piekford, Sir Harry Lander, General Andrew, Mr. L. M. Isitt. M.P., and a very good musical programme has been arranged. An important conference on the future policy of the Boy Scout movement here will be held on Thursday, between Sir Alfred and representatives of the Dominion council and the local executive. In the evening the guest leaves for Wellington, and will be farewelled at the railway station by a great gathering of Boy 'Scouts.
