MINING NEWS.
MITCH'S GOLD BEEF, LTD. THE MONTH'S RETURN. The mine superintendent reports :— "During the month ended April 30. 192:1. 2750 tons of ore were crushed and treated for a yield of USSoz of flue gold and OSOoz of fine silver. Owing to stoppages, due to Easter holidays and the effeot of hoavy floods, tlie Brill was run for 22 days only." In .the mine, No. 4 rise is up 45ft aibove No. 1 level. The average assay value to 33t: up was £6 6/5, for a width of 33in. In No. 2 level, south of the main crosscut, assays nange from 5/4 to 4-/" per ton. A rise wais put up BOJft, and the average assay up to 40ft was £2 16/10 for a width of 44in. At No. 3 level, north, assays are 7/2 per ton. RISING SUN. The mine manager reports that the drive has hecn extended a further Oft from the chamber, making a. total distance of 17ft. The ground Is still very hard but goodlooking country, and has the appearance of being the footwall of No. 1 lode. The manager expects to cut the reef within the next. 10ft or 15ft. The distance from the winze to tbe shaft along the line of No. 1 lode is 210 ft.
