BRITISH ISLES CLUB.

_ This afternoon at 5.30 the GovernorGeneral will officially open the newlyformed British Isles Club rooms in Shortland Street, above the Auckland Club, when it is expected that the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education, and the Mayor will also be in attendance. Following the ceremonythere will be a smoke social. The cluD is established in a suite of eight rooms, including office, writing and reading room, card room, lunch room, billiard room, kitchen and bathroom. The membership is already over 150, and this is expected to grow rapidly. The idea of the club is to have a place where Britishers already settled here can welcome Britishers who havi- ju=£ arrived | and put them in touch with inforI mation necessary to new arrivals.
