DAIRY PRODUCE CONTROL.
COMPULSORY OR VOLUNTARY. DIVISION AT MORRINSYILLE. (By Telegraph.—On-n Correspondent.) • MORRTNSVILLK. this day. The directors of several small dairy companies met here yesterday to discuss the Dairy Control Bill and ascertain opinions before the conference next week at Hamilton. The companies represented were Morrinsvillc, Tatua, Hinuera, Norfolk. Sunny Park, and Richmond Downs. Mr. R. J. McCausland (Morrinsvillc) was elected chairman. He agreed that the principles of the bill were good provided the basis was a proper one. He did not like the idea of compulsion, which should not be used as a weapon to injure any particular section. The meeting was not unanimous as to whether control should be compulsory or voluntary. Voting on the motion urging that there be no- compulsory legislation was evenly divided, Morrinsville. Sunny Park, and Hinuera voting for and Tataunui, Norfodk and Richmond Downs against. It was decided to recommend that the new Dairy Council be elected on the votes of the chairmen or representatives of all dairy companies, the basis of voting to be: 500 tons, one vote: 500 to 1000 tons, two votes; over 1000 tons, three votes. Feeling was equally divided over the matter of a levy.
