Soldi, °* Wellington, arrivals in Auckland turn morning, are at the Grand Hotel. Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, DirectorGeneral of Health, has returned to Auckland, and is at the Northern Club. Mr. and Mrs. J. Chambers, °i Hawke's Bay, arrived >in Auckland this morning, anil are staying at the GranHotel. The Rev. James Fordyce, of West Taieri Presbyterian Church, has acceptea call from Riverton, says a Press elation message. ' Mr. W. H. Morton, Wellington city engineer, who has been a patient at - private hospital for some weeks past, is reported to be steadily improving in health. The Rev. J. Williamson, of Rcmuer*. is at present in Rotorua, taking up tM duty of the Yen. Archdeacon F. W. Cha'tterton, who will remain in Auckland for a fortnight. Mr. S. Dr. Wilson has now arranged to leave Xew Zealand from Auckland on June 5, by the Makura. At a special meeting of the City Council, held yesterday afternoon, Mr. Ja me Melling, "law, records, and commit*" clerk, was appointed Assistant Tonn Clerk, vice Mr. J. Y. Warren, whose leave of absence, owing to illness, expired on Monday last. Having been informed Of Mr. Warren that his health was ---_ that he would not be able to resume UKduties, the Finance Committee recommended that he be retired from tne position, and relieved of his duties, was decided to grant Mr. Warren further leave of absence until the committee considered his ease and reported to t n » council.
