TIMARU BOXING CARNIVAL
MEETING OF CHAMPIONS. j • PAMPER BEATS MbCLEARY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARL", Thursday. The Timaru Boxing Association held a tourney to-night, when four matches were got off, in which the competitors were all champions in their respective classes. The results were:— Griffiths (Otago). Dominion fly-weight champion, beat Ennis, South Canterbury Worthington (Timani), South Tslantl bantam champion beat Black (Christchurcli). McKenna (Timaru) beat (Ashburton), Dominion heavy-weight champion. A 15-round contest for the light heavyweight championship, betiveen McCleary I Dunedin) and' Parker (Timaru), wont the n'hole distance, Parker getting the verdict. The fight throughout was cxtremly fast. McClear.v showed superiority in ringcraft and science but his opponent made the fight all the way, never allowing the holder to settle. Parker was prominent with straight right and loft hand blows, while his recovery was especially fast, and responsible for many points.
