DAIRY CONTROL BILL
CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON XORTH, this day. The Dairy Farmers' Union conference to-day considered the Dairy Control Bill. Mr. Webbe (Feilding) moved on behalf of the committee set up to go into the matter "That this conference, while strongly approving the principle of the Dairy Control Bill, draws attention to the danger of permitting subsection 8 of clause 11 to remain its present form." One-third of our dairy produce is subject to contracts extending over periods of from two to four years, and the effect of this on the London market will possibly be to allow- consigning agents to " bear" the market against produce sent forward by the proposed board. An amendment was moved "That the resolution be amended by deletion of all the words after 'its present form. , " Subsequently the amendment was agreed to unanimously. It was also resolved: " That representatives on the Control Board be appointed by the dairy producers of this country."
