TRADE IN SAMOA.
RECOVERED ITS EQUILIBRIUM. "Trade in Samoa has now recovered its equilibrium," remarked Colonel Toto. ex-Administrator of Samoa, who has returned to New Zealand after occupying | that position for the last three and ;i half years. Colonel 'fate went on to say that prior to litl'J the exports just balanced the imfiorts, but in 19jJ0-10i21 the imports greatly exceeded the exports, just as happened in New Zealand. During the past year the pendulum swung the other way, and the equilibrium can be said to have been re-established, as the following figures will show: —
In '.bis connection the appended figures showing the tonnage and value of copra exported during the period in question were interesting. It was noteworthy that the tonnage of copra exported in 1922 is tlie highest on record for any one year:—
