LITERATURE AT THE HIGH COMMISSIONER'S OFFICE.

A column article in a recent issue of the "Star" by "Britnnnieus," came under the notice of the Hon YV. Xosworthy, (Minister in charge of Immigration), the writer of which compared the Australian literature circulated at Home with that issued by the High Commissioner for Xew Zealand. Tlie Minister said the article appeared a deliberate attempt to mislead. In it the statement was made that "the sole effort at our international publicity in London was a thin white pamphlet with limp paper covers. The title, printed in block capitals, informed the student that it was the 'Handbook of the Dominion ot Xew Zealand. Part I.'"' Comparisons with Australia's coloured productions followed. In the tirst. place, said the Minister, no such pamphlet was issued by the Xew Zealand Government. In the .second place, the High Commissioner's Office during the past two years had been well supplied with five booklets upon Xew Zealand which would compare in quality, quantity of illustrations, and in general get-up and informativn material with Australian productions. Those booklets were devoted to tlie following subjects:--"New Zealand: Tile Country. Its People, nnd Kl»----sources:" Opportunities for Small Capitalists;" "The Dairying Industry:" 'The Pastoral Industry:" and "Agricultural Crops and Cropping in New Zealand." The Minister said he couh) not understand why such inaccurate statements should have been made. Copies of the booklets have been forwarded to us. and they fully bear out all that is claimed for them as admirable representations of the resources ot Xew Zealand, from agricultural, pastoral, industrial, and scenic, points of
