ROME POSTAL FIRE.

MAIN OFFICE DESTROYED. INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. ROME, March 23. A huge fire in the Post Office caused damage to the extent of £200,000. Many telegraph machines were destroyed and communication with France and England was interrupted. There were no casualties. When the employees attempted to telephone for assistance they found the instruments were inoperative and also found that the emergency fire appliances inside the building were out of action through a portion being missing. —(A. and N.Z.
