JAP. LOAN IN AMERICA.
liOTTDOX MARKET IGNORED. NEW YORK, March 25. The National City Bank will shortly announce a 20,000,000 dollar loan to Japan for the development of Korea. Bonds to that amount, bearing 7£ per cent interest, will be issued, carrying the endorsement of the Japanese Government. They will be further assured by Japanese Customs obligations. Negotiations have been progressing eecretly for several months between the New York Bank and the Oriental Development Company of Tokyo, backed by the Japanese Government. Every effort has been made here to minimise the effects of the loan, but it is understood that Japan is now turning to New York for development funds, which have been furnished by the London market for more than a century.— (A. and X.Z.)
