AMUSEMENTS.

TOWN" GALL ORGAN CONCERT. For the third municipal performance in the Town Hall last Saturday evening. Mr. Maugban Burnett submitted a programme consisting of vocal solos, violin pieces and organ works. The grandeur of the fine organ was heard to advantage during the presentment of Handel's Concerto in F, while Bach's famous Prelude and Fugue In D Major, with Its variety and Interest, was brilliantly executed: the work on the manuals was neatly fingered and the bravura pedal passages were delivered with freedom and decision. Delicately handled was Tsrhalkowski's Andante Cnntablle Op. 11. the string effects being specially well managed. Miss Dorothy Baker gave a .reading of Cyrl' Scott's "Kleifle." which delightfully pictured the music and her tone from the violin was admirable. She also achieved a marked success In Krelsler's "Tiiliibnurill Chinols." Mr. Hugh Woods was heard in an agreeable performance of Elliot's "Song of Hybrlas the Cretan" ami Liza Lermann's "Myself When Young." The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mr. Leo Whittaker. THE EORTV THIEVES PANTOMIME. The J. ('. Williamson pantomime. "The Forty Thieves," will commence a season at Hit. Majesty's Theatre, on Saturday afternoon next, at 2 o'clock. "The Forty Thieves'' comes with an exceptionally good reputation. According to Australian contemporaries, it Is easily one of the best pantomime extravaganzas presented by the big linn for many years. Styled the

"comedy-pantomime." it Is evidently rich In comedians. Such expert fun-makers as Messrs. Jack Cannot. i-Mgley and Dawe, Joe Breiiuan and Joe Morris. .suggest an Infinity of clever humour. An especially dashing principal buy is anticipated In Miss Mona Magnet. Something In the nay of a sensation may be looked for in the vaudeville act of .Mello and Xello, Continental comedy acrobats of high standing. Some ir.ii people will appear ill the dazzlinz show —which Is in two mfs and 20 scene*. The hex plans for the first six night,, will lie opened at Lewis R. Eacley and Sons. Ltd., to-morrow morning.
