LONG DISTANCE CALLS.
LIXKIXG UP WITH TARANAKI.
Arrangements to improve and extend the long distance telephone call system in the city and province are in hand, and the Postmaster-General (the Hon. J. G. Coates) informed an interviewer yesterday that the equipment for providing telephonic communication between Auckland and New Plymouth for the twenty-four hours of the day was almost completed. In addition, facilities for telephonic exchange between Taranaki stations iind those lying between Paeroa and Taumarunui were being arranged, so that very shortly all the principal towns of the Auckland and Taranaki provinces would be linked up by telephone for the benefit of .both commercial and public business.
