LIFT FATALITY.
MARRIED MAN KILLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A fatal accident happened at the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of Robert Smith, a married man aged fifty. Deceased went to the Town Hall during the after, noon to see the custodian, but nothing is known of liis movements afterwards. Mr. Alfred Usmar, who was assisting with some decorations in the hall, heard groaning and discovered Smith at the bottom of the lift well.
Smith was brought up unconscious and died before medical aid arrived. He had been employed until recently a_ a cleaner at the Town Hall, but there was no apparent reason why he shouia have been in the vicinity of the h«, which is used exclusively for the carriage of goods.
