THE FARMERS' MAN
TAURANGA, Saturday. In the political history of New Zealand there has been no greater financier than Sir Joseph Ward, said the chairman, Mr. J. S. Thompson, at Sir Joseph Ward's meeting at Otumoetai this morning. 1 have been more and more convinced of that by looking up Sir Joseph Ward's speeches of three or four years ago. Tf yon look up those speeches then you will be struck by the fact that Sir Joseph warned the Government to avoid many things which were troubling the country te-day. Sir Joseph's finance policy will especially interest and appeal to us farmers, as it is the farmers who are so much concerned at present. Sir Joseph Ward's speech followed the lines of other addresses, and was frequently applauded. He added that he was against the importation of Asiatic eggsi on the ground that better food of the kind could be produced in New Zealand. The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence.
