NEWSPRINT IN AUSTRALIA.
A SUITABLE PROCESS. (Re«-p|Tecl in n.w.i SYDNKY. this day. The Science Bureau reports that as the result of extended experiments a suitable process has been found for the economical production of paper pulp in Australia so far as the technical procedure is concerned. The report adds that the newsprint industry, if started in Australia, would ha\e to be on a comparatively large scale. There is not evidence available to indicate whether supplies of timber in an.v-part of Australia are sufficiently extensive for the manufacture of newsprint. The whole <|iiestion of developing the investigations on mechanical pulp production is under review.-(A. and N.Z. (able.)
