NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS.
(To the tjditnr.) fcir, —The mismanagement of our railways ha-s been the subject of much well* deserved criticism and needs a very drastic reorganisation. Your correspondent, Mr. Sainsbury, ie certainly correct in his statements about the refreshment rooms and other matters. \t seems to mc the only remedy is to let private enterprise run our railways 'before matters become woFse. Ope would imagine that the Government would do all it could to make the railways pay, but no, it is not so. I would suggest that a dining ear or cars be again put on our principal expresses as was the case some yeare r.go, or let some enterprising caterer conduct the business. It is time the public were considered.: — I am, etc., EDGAR KNIGHT.
