TELEGRAPHIST DROWNED IN .SHALLOW WATER. (By Telegraph.—Tress Asso. iaiion.i ASHBURTON, this day. Clarence Vivian Mcllardie, aged 26, a telegraphist, met with a fatal accident last night. He had been riding a cycle and unexpectedly came to a water race just outside the town. He was thrown off the machine. The impact broke his r.ose, and he lay stunned in about IS inches of water. He was found dead this morning by a carrier. Deceased was transferred from Wanganui three weeks ago, and was to have been married next Tuesday.
