DRAPERS' CONFERENCE.
DAYLIGHT SAVING. At the drapers' conference in 'Wellington last week the whole of one session was occupied by demonstrations or labour-saving devices, etc. Several agents were granted an opportunity to introduce and demonstrate the particular article they were marketing. Mr. Rendell. of Auckland, brought before the conference several new devices which he had brought from England. Mr. James Tait, of Dunedin. the presi-dent-elect, was installed in the chair. An address was given by Mr. J. >I. A. llott on "Daylight Saving." Numer- ■ ous instances were recorded of the I advantages of such a measure culled j from the experience of the United States, j Canada and England. It was claimed ', that from the economic and health ' standpoint it was a huge success wher- ! ever introduced. The conference ex-1 j pressed their thanks to Mr. Ilott, and passed unanimously the following .resoI hit ion:—'•That the Drapors and Clothiers' Federation strongly support ' the introduction of a daylight saving bill into New Zealand." It was decided to hold the ntfxt conference in Auckland. The conference closed with hearty votes of thanks to the retiring president] (Mr. Wyles). the president-elect (Mr. I Tait 1. and the members of the Advisory! Board. " | A large number of delegates and j friends were taken to Wainui by members iof the Wellington association and had a ! most enjoyable outing.
