Dr. K. 15. Gunson arrived at Auckland yesterday morning from Wellington, where lie attended the medical conference. At the Wanganui tares on Saturday. T)r. A. K. Newman, formerly M.P. for Wellington East, was taken ill. and was removed to a private hospital. The Ttev. Percy Xall. of Riri Siri. Eastern Bengal, India, is touring New Zealand in connection with the Baptist Church. Mr. F. W. MaeLean. chief engineer to the New Zealand railways, was a passenger liy the Wellington Main Trunk express last evening. Mr. Mac Lean has been on a visit of inspection on the North Auckland Main Trunk line. Archdeacon R. A. Woodthorpe of Punedin has been appointed professor of economics at Otago University in ruccoKxinn to Professor H. I'ringle. who re. signed. The Archdeacon will also he director of the Workers' Educational Association. The well-known writer and preacher. the Rev. F. B. Meyer. H.A.. D.D., will he leaviiiu England next montli for a tour of Australia and New Zealand. He ha» planned to lie in New Zealand during July and August, giving seven or eight day- of interdenominational work in each of the four central cities. He will be accompanied by the Rev. James Mursell, formerly of Adelaide and Brisbane. Two dogs, evidently of sporting ittsincts, went out game hunting in Ladies' Mile yesterday morning and had what, for them, was a good "bag." Three poultry owners found no less than 24 fowl lying round dead, and one or two other birds were badly injured. One man lost no less than: ten hens, while amongst those killed belonging to his neighbour was the oaly pure bred pedifiree bird h$ e^sed.
