SOCIAL JOTTINGS. Mrs. Geoffry Goodwin, of Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Hewitt, Rotorua. Mrs. W. R. H. Teape hae returned to Rotorua, after spending a, holiday in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. E. Horspool. Mt. Eden, are visting Rotorua, and are staying at "Hinemoa."' Rabbi and Mrs. Cohen, of Sydney, who ; are visiting Rotorua. are staying at Princos Gate. Mrs. Edwin Robertson, of Westvale, Rotorua, is spending a few weeks at The Mount, Tauranga. Miss Ella Weston. who has been the guoet of her aunt, Mrs. Geddis, Rotorua, has returned to Auckland. Miss Gwen Griffith, of Hamilton, is visiting Rotorua. and is the guest of Mrs. C. Griffith. Fenton Street.

Mrs. Brady, of Home Bay. Auckland, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Knight, King's Street, Rotorua. Miss Hodges, matron of King George V. Hospital, has returned to Rotorua, after a holiday spent in the South.

Rev. and Mrs. Cameron, Rotorua. are at present spending a holiday in Auckland, and will be absent a month. Mr. and Mrs. Maeintyne (Auckland) and Miss M. Heather (Auckland) are staying at Warner's Hotel, Ohristchurch. Miss Searell. sub-matron of King George V. Hospital. Rotorua, is spending a few weeke at The Mount. Tauranga.

Miss Margaret McKenzie. Ranolf Street, returned to Rotorua after spending a holiday at Marton and Wanganui.

Mies M. MacDermott, Rotorua. leaves this week for Tauranga, and will be absent a month. A most enjoyable dance was held recently at the Kiosk. Government (Jardens, Rotorua. The room was prettily decorated. Among those present were Mrs. Aleie. Misses Corlett. Wallers, C. Smith, K. Hall, K. Tapper, Allen and Mac Donald.

Mrs. George Urquliart. Pophia Street, Rotorua, gave a most enjoyable tennie and putting afternoon, afternoon tea being served on the lawn. Amone those talcing part were ilisse.s Allen, Tapper, K. Hall, V. and P. St. Olair, Messrs. F. Grove. A. Quinn, T. Henry, Driver Brockett and Jervis (2).

At the Druids' Hall. Rotorua. a most enjoyable farewell dance was given by the Native Land Court staff to Mr. R. M. Brebner, -who is leaving Rotorua; the hall was most tastefully decorated. Among those present were Misses M. Carter, Smith, Halkett. Purcell. Moorehouse Scott, Moor, Munroe. O'Brien, Mac Donald and Jacks, Messrs. Young, Smith, Empen, Brockett, Henry, Quinn, Scott, Gibson, Pureell, and Hill. A wedding which occasioned a great deal of interest in Chrtstchurch took place at St. Mary's Church, Merivale, on February 24, when Miss Rita Gibson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Gibson, of Fendalton, was married to Mr. James Henderson Watherston. lieutenant of the Black Watch (retired), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Watherston, of Edinburgh (the mother of the bridegroom having come from Edinburgh to be present at the ceremony). Archdeacon Haggitt officiated, and music was provided by Mr. Davis Hunt. Mr. Gibson gave his daughter away. The church was beautifully decorated, and the members of the St. Luke's Patrol of the Girl Scouts, of which Miss Gibson was a scout mistress, formed a guard of honour at the entrance of the church. The bridesmaids were the Misses Fay and Nancy eibson. Barbara Gould, and Jooelyn Pyne, and two little children, Eileen Rhodes, daughter of the Hon. Mrs. Tahu Rhodes, and Austen Deans, were trainbearersMr. O'Rorke was the best man, and Mr. Denis Coteril, the groomsman. The marriage of Miss Laura Isabel Greville, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Greville, Devonport, Auckland, to Mr. Matthew Joseph Ryan, of Parnell. took place on January 24 at Holy Trinity Church, Devonport, Auckland, the Rev. A. Greenwood officiating. The bride, who was given away by her mother, wore a handsome frock of cream crepe de chine, trimmed with pearls and silk embroidered panels and a tulle veil worked with sprays of clematis and arranged with orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of white peonies, sweet peae, pale pink carnations and asparagus fern. Mise Lulu Crorapton and Miss Beatrix Tosswill attended as bridesmaids. Miss Crompton wore cornflower blue georgette crepe and hat to match, and carried a lovely bouquet of yellow roses and maidenhair fern, and ; Miss Tosswill a frock of bright pink organdie muslin with a pink river hat trimmed with pink roses, her bouquet being of pink sweet peas. Mr. Morice Greville attended the bridegroom as best man. A reception was afterwards held at Ford's tearooms, Devonport. The bride travelled in a smart dress of dove grey cloth, trimmed with braid, and a picture hat of grey touched with pink.

Miss Audrey Hewitt, who lias been paying a round of visits in the Wellington and Palmerston districts, has returned to Rotorua.

The engagement is announced of Miss Maureen Frcngley. rlauphtcr of Dr. and Mrs. Frengley, Wellington, to Mr. A. D. Monro, of Victoria College.

Dr. Wallis, medical superintendent King George V. Hospital. Rotorua, accompanied by Mrs. Wallis. is at present in Christchurch.

The ladies attending the conference of Y.W.C.A. workers in Wellington are Lady Luke, Mesdames Charles Smith, W. Todd Smith, J. C. Dickinson. Pasey.
