KILLED BY THE SENATE.
SHIP SUBSIDY BILL. SUCCESS OF THE STONEWALL. i Keceived 30.30 a.m.. WASHINGTON, February 2". The Administration has surrendered to the filibuster over the Ship Subsidy Bill, agreeing to withdraw the measure to permit consideration of other measure!. When the latter are disposed of the Ship Bill's fate will most likely be definitely disposed of. either by the Senate defeating the motion to reinstate the bill as unfinished business, or by recommitting the bill to the committee. When the filibuster was resumed today, Mr. McKellar. who had already talked continuously for ten hours, promised to continue throughout the night. He read the Congressional record of 1013, when the Republicans prosecuted filibusters against the Democrats, who attempted to pass Mr. Wilson's Ship Bill, which aimed to create an American merchant marine. Senators opposed to the subsidy declared this was poetic justice. Eventually the Administration, seeing no chance of forcing the bill through, surrendered to the stonewaller..--(A. and X.Z. Cable.)
