TAUKANOA REGATTA. A GREAT SUCCESS. SOME CLOerc FIXISHE6. The Tauranga annual regatta was held off the Tauranga wharf yesterday in ideal weather, a light northerly breeze enabling the ealllng events to finish in good time. While the water was not too rough for fhe full programme of rowing and launch events. From early moraine visitors arrived by road, rai! and steamer, the attendance being a record one. The 8.8. Xgapuhl made a good flagship, and she was well patron laed. The Tauranga Municipal Brass Band ami the Waihi Federal Band discoursed suitable music all day. The seven yachts which took part in the ocean race from Auckland were lying off the wharf, several being gaily decked with bunting for the occasion. Russell was en fete to-day, when the Russell Regatta Club held its flrst regatta eln.ee eight years ago. The weather conditions were pleasant.
